This looks interesting. I don't know that I'd quite call it bionic, but I suppose it's a start, and it somewhat fits the bill. It does offer hope to lots of people, so that's definitely a plus. That, and it's just cool to hear about a bionic limb. Hopefully, it will work effectively.

Self-Replicating Robots

Science News Article | Reuters.com

This is something. It's just a start, still, but interesting that they're making robots that make other robots ad nauseum. I know they're saying they'd be good for space travel or hazardous situations, but if science fiction has taught us anything, it's to be wary of self-replicating robots, because they'll just keep replicating and take over everything. There ought to at least be some concern about it. Still, I guess it's something cool they've been able to figure out how to do. It honestly didn't sound that hard to me, but I guess it might be more complicated than I'd think. With some thought and planning, this could be something cool.

Army, Marines miss recruiting goals again - U.S. News - MSNBC.com

Army, Marines miss recruiting goals again - U.S. News - MSNBC.com

I have a mixed reaction to this. The first thing that came was, "Well, duh..." Most people wouldn't be as eager to join the army if they knew they were going to be sent straight into the line of fire. Only a few nuts would really want to go. Of course recruitment is lagging... people are getting killed and most sensible people prefer not to be killed. Then there's a big thing about how it's not about the war, it's about serving your nation. But this war is very unpopular with the nation. One might perhaps better serve the nation by figuring out how to end the war. Regardless, the article ends by saying that the army is going to have to pick up the slack when the reserves run out of people, and that is not a comforting thought, because frankly, I don't trust the congress and the president farther than I could throw them. Personally, I'd hate to be drafted, and I'd likely emigrate, because I don't think this war is about our nation... I think it's about some jerks trying to hijack our nation, and if there were to be a draft, why that would be the ultimate signal that they'd succeeded, and even a rat knows to get off of a sinking ship. So... yeah, anyhow... this article rather disturbed me more than I thought it would. Hopefully, someone will develop some sense before everything gets worse.
