Hermetics Library of Magical & Mystical E-Books

http://www.hermetics.org/ebooks.html

This is an excellent collection of magic and occult-related free eBooks. I found this the other day, and have been downloading to my heart's content ever since. There are some pretty famous books in here. There are also some obvious omissions, but you can't necessarily help what you can find for free. The price is right, so if you have a general interest in the occult, and don't mind not having fancy packages and illustrations, there's a lot to be found at this site.

The Band Register 2

The Band Register 2

This is a site I found a long, long time ago. It's really useful. I don't THINK I've blogged it before, but it's entirely possible. Still, it's a really useful site, regardless, if you've got a band or are thinking of forming one. It has a registry of all the names of bands that have ever registered with it (which is a significant number), so you'll be able to see if your band name is taken. Unfortunately, it does lead to lots of disappointment, as (unless you've got a really unusual name) it almost certainly is. Still, a very useful tool to have, since it does allow you to find out these things BEFORE the lawsuit.

The Truth About Violent Youth and Video Games - Game Revolution

The Truth About Violent Youth and Video Games - Game Revolution

This article is rather like the last one, but by a less serious journal, and therefore, more fun. This guy is actually allowed to have a sense of humor and address hypocrisy more directly, and as a video game designer, he at least has some vested interest and authority in the topic. Worth checking out.

Video gaming | Chasing the dream | Economist.com

All of this hype about video games is just absurd from my point of view. I like how this article deflates some of that, even if at the start, it seemed like it was going to support the idiocy. On the left side, there's a picture of what I presume to be the cover of the issue this came from, and it just ticked me off at the start, but luckily, this article in a fairly respected journal has a more balanced view of the situation. Maybe we'll be lucky and some people will actually understand what it is saying that didn't before.
