Bum Wine

http://www.bumwine.com/

This website provided me with quite a bit of amusement. I wonder how accurate the descriptions are, but they are quite entertaining, at least, and oddly made me want some cheap fortified wine, which I almost never want. An amusing website, anyway.

Fun Comic Book Reviews

http://kidscomicbooks.blogspot.com/

This is a cute blog where this guy types out his 7 year old son's reviews of the comics he read this week. You can tell it's really a 7 year old, and they're really adorable reviews, but the kid actually has pretty good taste in comics, too. I just thought it was fun, really.

Power of the Dark Crystal

http://powerofthedarkcrystal.blogspot.com/

This is crazy. I never even heard about this until today when I randomly looked up the Dark Crystal on wikipedia. They're already so far into production. I'm pretty excited about seeing it, even though there's a potential that it'll disappoint since I loved the first one so much. I've got high hopes, though.

Chesapeake Pagans

http://www.chesapeakepagans.org/

This is a group that I found because they are sponsoring a pagan festival north of Baltimore next month. I don't know a whole lot about them, yet, but since they're so close, I would like to find out more about them. I may check out that festival they have planned.

A Worthwhile Project

http://www.sacredwheel.org/nal.html

This is an organization called "The New Alexandrian Library." It's a group in Delaware that's trying to create an extensive library on occult topics, which seems pretty worthwhile to me, and was something I wanted to share with other people. I just wish they were a bit closer to me.

Excellent Resource

http://www.esotericarchives.com/

I found this by happenstance today. I decided to look and see if I could find "Three Books of Occult Philosophy" online today, and here it was. Not just that, though, this also has a number of grimoires and important books from the occult community for free. I'm pretty interested in checking this out further.

Eyesight improvement

http://www.visioneducators.com/improving_your_vision.phtml

This is a cool site I found about improving your eyesight naturally. It seems interesting to me, becuase I don't like wearing glasses, but I'm apprehensive about laser surgery, as well. I may try to give some of the ideas a try.

Looks interesting

http://www.homerecordingbootcamp.com/

This is a site that helps teach you how to make good recordings which looked interesting to me. I still have to investigate it further, but it looked like something worth checking out if you're interested in home recording.

D&D Stuff

http://dnd4.com/

If you're at all interested in the new edition of D&D that's coming out in a week or two, this is something to check out. It's got a bunch of information that's been leaked so far that's all gathered up in one place. It's a fairly useful resource if, like me, you've got a group that's making the switch fairly early on.

Couldn't Disagree More

http://www.filter-mag.com/index.php?id=16743&c=11

I mostly read this review because I went to this concert, and I really enjoyed it. I figured it'd be fun to rehash the (still recent) memory of it by reading a review. I don't know what concert this person went to, but it wasn't the one I was at. Yeah, people applauded to Friday, I'm in Love. It's a good song. I don't know what sort of silly drama you need to have in your life that you don't enjoy things the way you used to, but that was a damn fine concert. The only criticism I could level at it was that, because it was their first date of the tour, the first song or two were a little shaky on the vocals while he was warming up, but that quickly went away and, for me, was totally taken away in the wash of emotion of the very exciting, obscure gems being played from Disintegration that, for me, were "like the opening of the gates to heaven." It was that good. They brought out some older material, which was cool, and one of the great things about seeing the Cure. You never know what they're going to play. It also marked a return for Porl Thompson who, surprise, played on some of the older material and so he's probably more comfortable with it. I suppose I was also concerned for a while that they didn't seem to have a keyboard player, which was important for a lot of their mid-career material, just some sequenced synths or recordings for important intros and such. I missed it at first, but it was interesting to see how they would work it with two guitars. Lacking a keyboard player also limited them somewhat in choice of material to those things they could work out with a two guitar quartet lineup, and probably influenced them to go for earlier material, which was well-represented and fun to hear again. The concert made me happy I'd gone and excited to hear the new material. In fact, the worst part of it had nothing to do with the band, and that was that the guy next to us kept smoking despite being repeatedly told not to (I guess you're not allowed at that venue. I know Maryland did it everywhere, but I'm not sure about Virginia). In any case, this review really bothered me, because it was so contrary to my own experience. I suppose different people have different opinions, and maybe it's de rigeur to take pot shots at aging rockers, but I felt it was inappropriate, and perhaps this person didn't belong in reporting on concerts anymore, since his passion for music seems to be escaping him.

Cute Story

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080521/ap_on_fe_st/odd_japan_parrot_returns

This is just a cute story about a japanese parrot who knew his address and got home that way. It was just fun and I wanted to share it with people.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080324/lf_afp/lifestylejapanreligionanimaloffbeat_080324161640

This is just a cute, light story about a chihuahua in a Japanese Buddhist temple who mimics praying when other people are praying. It was cute, and the picture is adorable. I just thought I'd share.

Squirrels on Crack

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2005/oct/08/drugsandalcohol.patrickbarkham

A co-worker of mine who I like to chat with came in this morning wanting me to look up something about squirrels in london who were supposedly addicted to crack. When I searched for it, I found a ton of sites, this was just the first one on the list. I was sort of surprised, because I didn't figure a squirrel would go for crack for any particular reason... at least the first time. The article still doesn't have any hard proof, and is a bit sensationalized (honestly, a squirrel couldn't freebase... it's pretty complex, and I don't know if it could work the lighter), but it's fairly interesting.

Just Seems Weird...

http://www.batterblaster.com/index.php

I got something about this in a newsletter today. It's a ready-made pancake batter that comes in an aerosol can, rather like whipped cream. There's a video you can watch on the site, and several independent reviewers say it's just like normal commercially-available pancake batter. It's just one of those odd things that makes you wonder why somebody bothered. It just seems unnecceseary to me, but I guess I must not be the target demographic for it... and it's entirely possible my wife would think it was a great idea.

RIP

http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/03/report-gary-gyg.html

I just read that Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of Dungeons & Dragons died today. Apparently, he's been in ill-health for some time, and it's not unexpected, but still somewhat sad. I'm not devastated, but I do wish to remember his contributions, which have meant quite a bit in my life.

To Gary...

Sounds Like Fun

http://us.i1.yimg.com/videogames.yahoo.com/feature/become-a-real-guitar-hero/1191518

As both a guitarist and a gamer, this sounds pretty cool. I'm pretty good at playing the guitar, and I enjoy playing Guitar Hero games quite a bit, but a game that actually teaches you to play the guitar? That sounds epic. I rarely seem to have the patience to learn to play new songs, as I'd often rather just write something new, or save myself the hassle of trudging through bad tabs and looping difficult passages. Having a game that would help me do that, and even choose some cool songs for me to try out sounds like a great idea. I know there will be songs I'd like to learn that aren't on there (no matter what they put on there), I'm sure they'll choose songs worth learning, and every new song I learn is useful in some way. I really hope this one comes out on the Xbox, but even if it doesn't, I might just get it and use it on my new laptop, anyway.

Really Powerful Essay

http://www.zeek.net/802jay/

I read this essay on a review from a pagan news feed. It's written by a Jewish author, but it really touched me and revealed a profound knowledge of spirit. It was a really good article, even though I was suspicious at first. I'd recommend anyone read this if they're interested in understanding different kinds of spirituality.

Amusing Combination

http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.2382.Joe_Q_Wows_on_COLBERT_REPORT

I hadn't seen the earlier piece, where Steven Colbert was presented with the shield, but this was quite an amusing bit that this article covers, and it also has the video. I mean, come on, it's political comedy combined with comic books, of course I like it....

Railgun

http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20080201/sc_livescience/navytestsincrediblescifiweapon

It's odd, as I was walking into work this morning, I found myself oddly thinking about railguns, and when I get inside and look at the news, they just tested one. Railguns are kind of cool, at least in the imaginative way they've been thought up, and it's kind of neat that they've actually made one, though the destructive power might perhaps have been better left in the realm of imagination. Still, it's just an interesting thing that's happened.

Pagan World Radio

http://www.paganworldradio.net/

This is an exciting looking site that I still have to spend more time checking out. I don't have winamp at work, so I'll have to try it at home, but it looks like something I'd really enjoy. Hopefully, it will prove to be so.

Food of the Gods

http://food.yahoo.com/blog/ahamburgertoday/5226/how-to-make-a-deep-fried-cheese-stuffed-burger-from-bacon

This is an amazing sounding concoction. I'm sure it's terrible for you, but I still want to try it. I'm sure I'll regret it afterwards, but I mean... a burger... made of bacon... filled with cheese... and deep fried... it sounds incredible. I thought other people might appreciate the idea as well.

Unusual

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080118/ap_on_re_mi_ea/bin_laden_s_son

I saw this article this morning, and it struck me (as I'm sure it has many who have seen it) as interesting. While I certainly applaud his decision, it does seem odd coming from where it does. With the sheer number of children, it's not surprising, I guess, but it's definitely interesting. Just thought it worth adding, here.
